Express and Vent

The ability to communicate feelings through speech enables a higher level of intersubjectivity than does the expression of feelings by nonverbal means, even in situations that take place in the here and now (Bretherton et al., 1986).

As the image above illustrates, when your negative emotions are on the verge of becoming overwhelming, it is really important to give them the release they need. You can find a friend who is willing to listen to your heart and talk on a sunny afternoon; you can go to hip-hop dance classes like I did because when you dance, your sweat will give you dopamine; you can go to the boxing gym and imagine the baggage as all of the unpleasantness, and then punch it; you can drop what you are doing and put on your running pants and go downstairs for a half-hour run; you can go to a disco and have a drink with your friends. Or, you can...

A kind reminder to express any negative emotions in an appropriate manner is provided here (incorrect ways include but are not limited to alcohol abuse, overeating, sedentary lifestyle, etc.). After letting off some sweat, you will feel quite exhausted. At this time, you should get some rest at home by taking a relaxing bath, sleeping well, and waking up the next day with a positive attitude. I really hope that each and every day is a wonderful one for you all!
